The media tend to attribute Gaza's decline solely to Israeli military and economic actions against Hamas. But such a myopic analysis ignores the problem's root cause: 60 years of Arab policy aimed at cementing the Palestinian people's status as stateless refugees in order to use their suffering as a weapon against Israel.
I lived in Gaza as a child in the 1950s when Egypt, which then controlled the territory, conducted guerrilla-style operations against Israel from Gaza. My father commanded these operations.
In those years the Arab League started its Palestinian refugee policy. Arab countries implemented special laws designed to make it impossible to integrate the Palestinian refugees from the 1948 Arab war against Israel, forcing a Palestinian identity on these people for eternity and condemning them to a miserable life in a refugee camp.
The Palestinians continue to endure hardships because Gaza continues to serve as the launching pad for terror attacks against Israeli citizens.
If the Arabs really loved their Palestinian brethren, they'd pressure Hamas to stop firing missiles at Israel. [I]t's time for the 22 Arab countries to absorb the Palestinians.

You ain't commenting much, but I can't refrain from pointing out the obvious. Between 1948-1967, when Gaza was part of Egypt, and the Samaria was part of "Jordan", whom do you think did the "occupied" "palestinians" attack in order to "liberate" themselves from "foreign" control? The Egyptians? "Jordanians"? NOPE! The target has always been Israel... Proving that Egyptians, "Jordanians", "palestinians", you name it, are identical and anti-Israel. The big lie about Israeli occupation of its own Jewish homeland, which itself is occupied by the Arabs, is exposed. Most amazingly, ever since 1948 there has been a 2-state solution in place! The Mandate of Palestine has been divided into Jewish Israel and Arabic "Jordan" for 6 decades now, and finalized in their 1994 Peace Accord, setting the Jordan River as the final boundary between the Jewish and Arabic (i.e. "palestinian") sides!! Any additional division of the western side, as is the aim of the US, is designed to steal land from Israel and give it to her enemies, pure and simple.
Hi Anonymous...yes, it's true, i don't comment much...i see my blog as a news narrative of fascinating developments in the MidEast. But what i choose to highlight speaks volumes, no?
