Straight talk from Peres

Peres: "Let the Palestinians Stop Shooting and They Won't Suffer"

Israeli President Shimon Peres [pictured at left] told a news conference in London that trade restrictions on goods made in Jewish settlements hurt Palestinian workers in the settlements and if they were fired due to a crackdown on exports it would increase unemployment.

Asked how he justified the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza, Peres said: "Why should they suffer? Let them stop shooting and they won't suffer."

Straight talk...that seems quite reasonable. In other countries, people who try to kill other people are not treated very well. But you don't find many places whee a core segment of the populace vows to rid the world of another segment.

Yep, reminds me of a saying i can't attribute to anyone off the top of my head:

"If the Arab put down their guns we'd have peace; if the Israelis did so we'd have war & bloodshed."

or something like that...

Certainly, if the Israelis put them down first...we'd have no Israelis.
