PA adopts Israeli narrative

PA Daily: Arabs Caused Refugee Problem -Itamar Marcus & Barbara Crook

The Arabs who became refugees in 1948 were not expelled by Israel but left on their own to facilitate the destruction of Israel, according to a senior Palestinian journalist writing in a Palestinian daily.

Jawad al-Bashiti wrote in Al-Ayyam: "The Arab Salvation Army came and told the Palestinians: 'We have come to you in order to liquidate the Zionists and their state. Leave your houses and villages, you will return to them in a few days safely. Leave them so we can fulfill our mission (destroy Israel) in the best way and so you won't be hurt.'"

Complete and utter Crud! I was looking through your blog noticing its slanted "non biased" opinions and must say that is a pretty picture of the hoopoe.

But THIS headline must be addressed. Yes someone may have written this, but he did NOT speak for millions of people or the families driven from their homes never to return.

I am so shocked that someone would even BELIEVE this I am at a loss for words, a very very rare thing.

Dear Ms. Noor al Haqiqa,

Thank you for your comment. I am flattered that you would have looked thru my blog, as our opinions seem to be very different.

And yes, that hoopoe photograph is quite pretty...i spend at least half my blogging time looking for compelling photos.

As for the truth in this matter, the question really is how much of a role did this factor play...you can't believe that no one who left was hoping for a quick return to a dead Jewish state?

People never take responsibility for their actions. There was no "driving out" other than people lived in a war zone and decided to leave and not return.

I live in the USA now, but when I worked at the City of Jerusalem, working with local Palestinians that didn't live. Their neighbors left, but they didn't. They still hated us, but worked for the City and they made a living, and would have a completely different opinion from Noor al Haqiqa, if you asked them.

But, of course, it is not politically correct to tell the truth... you can get killed for it by people who have an agenda: justifying hating Israel.
